Well, we’re back from our idylic weekend in North Conway, NH. It was a really fabulous time for all of us. In many ways, it felt like we were truly stepping back in the past driving past beautiful country homes and old fashioned cars:

The scenery was just breath-taking. We didn’t check emails, blogs or pay much attention to the TV. I did miss you guys but it was so wonderful to reconnect with my family and our friends who were up there too.
I think the kids would agree that their favorite part of our trip was Storyland:

The park was fabulous and really John (age 6) and Conor (nearly 3) were at a perfect age for visiting. The bonus was that Conor is now 36 inches tall and able to go on every single ride. The great thing about Storyland is you can pay a regular entry and enter the park after 3pm and come back for the entire next day. This is what we did and it worked out pefectly. On Friday afternoon, we checked out all the rides and said hi to Humpty Dumpty:
Had a relaxing ride on the swan boats:
The next day we returned with our friends and our bathsuits. We got there at 10am and there wasn’t a long line for Bamboo Chutes (the water flume ride) or Dr. Geyer’s Raft Ride. We got soaked on both. We also really loved the Splash Battle Ride (where you have a water gun fight with passersby) also got soaked on that one and couldn’t stop laughing.
The kids loved splashing around in these sprinklers:
And the Flying Fish were everyone’s favorite. Here is John and his best friend on them:

On Sunday, we spent some time by Echo Lake. The aroma of pine needles filled the mountain air. It really did smell like Christmas:
This is the amazing view of Echo Lake Park:

It was $4 for adults and $2 for kids over 6 to spend the entire day. We relaxed and splashed in the water:

Just watching the clouds go by:
Our last night we enjoyed the most amazing pizza at the Flatbread Co. It was the best pizza. I wish there was one in Scituate…
The restaurant had these amazing clay ovens where they made the pizza right infront of you:

The fresh vegetables are all organic and the meats are free range and have no hormones (all the things we believe in for our family). It was the best. Check out these pies, the kids had cheese:

While we had their special – Buffalo Chicken pizza:

Yum, doesn’t even begin to describe how wonderful these pizzas were. But I guess this pictures is worth a thousand words:
John enjoying his pizza!
Now, that is one happy boy with his pizza! We can’t wait to do it all again (maybe next year?)
PS I was hoping I’d have a truck load of treasures to share with you from Antique Alley, but many of the stores were closed 🙁 – Luke has promised he’ll take me up for a day when they are open (so stay tuned for that!)
It looks like a fabulous trip. Nevermind about the shopping, it looks like you all had an amazing time – John and Conor certainly seem to be enjoying themselves !
Too fun! We still haven’t made it to Storyland but hope too someday! Maybe when the youngest is a bit older. 🙂 I’m so glad you had a nice weekend…I’m craving pizza now!!
I love this. My parents used to have a house up in NH and I spent many summer days at echo lake. I enjoyed this blog entry! Chris and I are heading to NH in Nov for a weekend away.
Oh it looks like you all had SO much fun! And that pizza….It made me hungry! 🙂
