Updates for Summer

Summertime…

and the living is easy!!

We’ve been enjoying quite lovely, and very warm weather here in Scituate.  Perfect weather for summer blooms!

Since moving in we’ve made a few little updates to the outside.  Here’s how the house was looking when moved in:

And a few little updates later:

My mom came down and helped me with the window boxes.  The front of the house is in full shade so we had limited options for plant.  We planted New Guinea impatients, potato vines and sea grasses.

The heavens opened while we were planting the window boxes and the planters…

I picked up these great planters a few years back at Target.  I love them!  We used potato vines, sea grasses and lovely lobelia in the plantes.  Don’t the look sweet?

Also on the porch is a lovely nautical rug by the Rugged Sailor.  Alli, the owner, of the Rugged Sailor hand painted it for me and customized the details I wanted on it.  I chose our zip code in Scituate and a whale.  Isn’t that whale super cute?!?

Check out these:

Nothing says summer in New England to me more than lovely blue hydrangeas.  I can’t take any credit for these.  The previous owner planted these and they are stunning. Conor and I have been clipping some and bringing them in to be enjoyed indoors too!

The sign on the door was a gift from dear friends as a house warming gift.  My parents gave the beautiful flag to John & Conor.

I didn’t even notice those pretty window boxes in the before pic, but once you add the flowers they just pop. So pretty!

Love that everything you have done outside looks like it might have been there all along. It’s really such a pretty facade that it looks great with subtle additions.

Your home is very nice, you’ve already added wonderful personal pretties making it yours. So great to own your own home. Looks like a big home inside. I’m so envious of your hydrangeas, wonderful for you they were already there. Have fun making it yours. Happy Summer

Your home is so pretty, but plants really make a difference don’t they. I’ve got some window boxes too, though luckily they get sun, and I always keep up the dead-heading to keep them blooming all summer. Unfortunately I don’t have any gorgeous blue hydrangeas !

My husband just walked behind me and saw your home and said how pretty it is and I agree. Your Hydrangeas are just gorgeous. I love them.
