Watercolor Bee

Did you know it’s national honey bee day? In honor of this special day I wanted to share my watercolor honey bee.

I actually painted this sweet honey bee for a fundraiser with the Urban Beekeeping Lab that’s happening tonight at The Root here in Scituate. One lucky recipient will go home with this beautiful signed frame giclée print. This sweet bee isn’t available currently in my shop but if there’s interest I may add him. Let me know if you’d like to see this on anything specific. It will be part of the 2024 boxed calendar (coming soon)!

Painting the Watercolor Honey Bee

If you follow me on Instagram then you maybe saw this little reel of painting the bee. I had so much fun painting this little bee and especially love the furry texture and the wings.

I know it’s been a little while since I shared a painting tutorial here on the blog but I’ll be share more soon. Some that might interest you:

A Pretty Frame

A frame really can elevate art and my favorite place for framing is The Frame Center in Hanover. They do all my prints in my online shop. I knew for this I wanted a different look and we decided on a black frame!

Framing idea for Watercolor Honey Bee

We discussed framing options and decided that black really worked with the bee and I wanted a chunky white mat.

Here’s how it looks framed:

My friends at The Frame Center also used Museum Glass on this piece.
