Watercolor Doughnuts
As a young girl, I have fond memories of lazy Saturdays with the BEST doughnuts. These watercolor doughnuts are inspired by those days.
When I was very little my dad would always get doughnuts on Saturday mornings. Good old fashioned doughnuts. You know the kind I mean. Kruellers laced with sugar, powdered ones that were soft and plump, oh, and the lemon filled. That was my favorite!
Now doughnuts are more for a special occasions at our house, but I do love a good doughnut. In fact, I’ll share a fun recipe later in the post but for now I wanted to share these pretty doughnuts.
I love you more than doughnuts
I just launched these NEW cards in our online shop. I thought they’d be perfect for Valentine’s or any time you need to express love!
The note cards are available as singles or sets and they are printed on recycled heavy card stock. Printed in the US and packaged here at our home by me.
These particular doughnuts were inspired by some delicious ones they had at Coffee Corner in Sciuate Harbor. They looked just like the ones my dad used to buy for me.
They are whimsical and fun for January. I think we all need some color to inspire us to get through winter until spring. Ha! Ha!
We also have our watercolor heart cards, too, if you’re in need of more inspiration for Valentine’s Day.
Watercolor Doughnut Fabric, Wallpaper, and Home Decor
I’m also excited to share that I turned this doughnut illustration into two different scales of surface pattern and have it in our Spoonflower Shop.
The larger scale is for wallpaper and some home decor items.
I can see the wallpaper being used in a playroom or kids’ bedroom. They offer peel and stick if you want something that can be removed easily:
I also thought this would be a fun in a teen bedroom on duvets and sheets:
I also created a smaller scale for the pattern for fabric and items you might want a smaller repeat on. I thought they’d be cute for tea parties or doughnut parties.
More About Spoonflower
I’m constantly adding new patterns to our Spoonflower Shop.
Their fabric, wallpaper, and home decor items are well made and printed beautifully.
They offer 24 types of fabric – ranging from cotton to recycled canvas, fleece to gauze and everything in between.
Spoonflower offers 4 types of wallpaper from peel and stick to grasscloth.
Finally, if you’re not really into crafts or wallpaper they offer beautiful bedding, dining, and home decor items. As a small business I would never be able to create this many product to sell.
Baking Doughnuts at Home
I couldn’t do a post about doughnuts and not sure the recipe my family loves so much, could I?
They are soooooo good, but a warning, I end up eating about three while I’m baking them. Yes, they’re that good.
If you want to bake these doughnuts you probably have everything you need in your pantry. I would recommend this amazing doughnut pan though.
